“Everything dies baby, that’s a fact…but maybe everything that dies some day comes back.” - Bruce Springsteen
Hi. My name is Lee Stranahan. In 1996, I made a feature film called Breathing Room. It’s a romantic comedy about a neurotic young painter whose hot but shallow girlfriend tells him she wants to take a week off from their relationship. Wacky mayhem ensues. I wrote, produced and directed the film, which I shot on 35mm for about $30,000.
After struggling to get the movie made, I submitted a rough cut to Sundance and Slamdance but thousands of films get submitted to those festivals and only a few dozen are chosen. I’d spent about a year working on the project and I was broke. I abandoned Breathing Room.
In the decade or so since I made Breathing Room, I’ve never completely let it go in my heart. I kept thinking there might be some kind of way to fix a few things and get the movie out there. For one thing, most of actors in the film have gone on to do some very cool stuff - roles in TV shows and movie, an Emmy award for one, one is a well known political blogger. Also the technology has evolved tremendously in the past few years; when I made Breathing Room there were no DVDs, no YouTube, no Final Cut.
This site is where I’m launching Breathing Room - with promotional material, contests and different mixes of the movie.
